Would taking Zinc Gluconate with Vitamin B5 do any harm?
Q. Hi all, would taking Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5) and Zinc Gluconate together do any harm to my body or will they counteract each affects? Thanks

A. B5, pantothenic acid is found in just about every food we eat, animal or vegetable. Organ meats, salmon, eggs, beans, milk, and whole grains are the best sources. The best sources of zinc include beef, lamb, pork, crabmeat, turkey, chicken, lobster, clams and salmon. Good zinc food sources aside from meats are dairy products such as milk and cheese, yeast, peanuts, beans, and wholegrain cereals, brown rice, whole wheat bread, potato and yogurt. Of all these vegetarian zinc foods, pumpkin seeds offer one of the most concentrated non-meat food sources of zinc. is cheleated zinc and zinc gluconate the same thing?
Q. im curious because i started taking 50mg of zinc today for acne.
Asked by dksajdksa - Sat Aug 8 22:26:02 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Chelated zinc usually refers to zinc amino acid chelates so it contains the zinc salt or zinc complex derived from zinc and amino acids. Zinc gluconate is the zinc salt or zinc complex derived from zinc and gluconic acid. Both the above forms of zinc are organic zinc and they are absorbed better than inorganic zinc such as zinc oxide or zinc carbonate.

A. 40mg seems to be the upper limit, so I'd probably not do that again, however, I doubt doing it once is going to cause harmful effects, except a heck of a stomach ache. Probably vomiting, which will expel any undigested tablets. "Medications" like that really should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist, especially if you're taking high doses. Since they're not regulated by the FDA, there isn't a dosage recommended that is definitely safe. Additionally, there are few proven benefits from taking it, so it's not necessarily something you need to take at all. Good luck -

What do different forms of a specific vitamin mean?
Q. For example, for zinc there is zinc oxide, zinc amino acid chelate, zinc gluconate, and other forms. Is the difference how it is absorbed or what it is derived from?
Asked by [Vibrant] - Sat Sep 20 15:55:05 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Providing it's something your body can break down, then it will, and then use the bits it wants. You'd need to ask a professional (or someone who knows more than I do) which compound your body is able to breakdown quicker. Some compounds will have stronger bonds than others and will therefore be harder to break down by your body. It's best to get your vitamins from natural sources if you can though such as fruit/veg/meat. Juicing (at home) is a good way to get a source of vitamins and minerals easily and avocados are a great source of practically everything your body needs.

What do you know about Magnezium Oxide?
Q. I have these tablets called "Micucal" that contain Dicalcium Phosphate, Zinc Gluconate, Calcium Citrate, Vitamin D3 and Magnezium Oxide (100mg), but I am not sure if this Magnesium Oxide has side effects or not (the bloody Web sense doesn't let me access the web sites that I need, that's why I am asking you).

A. Too much magnesium in the diet can make it difficult for your body to absorb calcium. On the other hand not enough magnesium can lead to irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure, insomnia and muscle spasms.

A. Good nutrition is vital to healthy hair growth, just as it's essential to overall good health. Although your body needs a variety of vitamins and minerals to maintain proper body functions, there are several that are specific to hair growth and health. When starting a new vitamin regime, it usually takes from 2 to 3 months to see results in your hair's condition. That means that patience and consistency is very important. It's also important to check with your doctor before starting a vitamin program, especially if you have health concerns. Healthy Hair Vitamins Vitamin A - Antioxidant that helps produce healthy sebum in the scalp. A. You're Shih tzu does not really need all that stuff . You are just being over secure. Usually you feed them every breakfast, lunch, dinner. All my shih tzu will eat is Royal Canin. You just have to start him out with a healthy kid of food and if he doesnt like it just change it. Vets suggest you shouldn't change the kind of food you give him when he is a baby. I hope this helps!

A. Blah, While Spot's Stew is a nutritious brand of cat food, I have yet to find a cat that likes it. Personally I think it has a rather nasty aroma, and my cats both freaked out when I tried to feed it to them. One tried to drag a little kitchen mat over to cover the bowl. Our cats love the canned variety of Natural Balance Venison and Peas. This is a hypoallergenic food so it is good for cats that may be sensitive to beef and chicken, which are two meats that are one the top ten of food allergic substances. Giving the best food is useless if kitty doesn't like the taste! Natural Balance has excellent ingredients and has received high marks from my veterinarian who is very into feline nutrition. You can get this product at PetCo, or you… [cont.]

A. Welcome to vegetarianism =) Reading labels at times can be tricky especially if they are not clear and contain words/ingredients you never heard of! Most protein bars shouldn't contain meat, and should be *okay* for vegetarians. Whey is the liquid remaining after milk has been curdled and strained. Collagen is the main protein of connective tissue in animals. Whole Milk Powder, as well as Milk Fat both come from a cow. Calcium Carbonate mostly comes from rock, but may come from shells of marine organisms, snails, and eggshells. This bar is loaded with animal products, and is definitely not vegan friendly. That bar seems vegetarian. For vegan bars you may check out your local natural food store and ask or if there is a Whole Foods or… [cont.]

I'm thinking of taking prenatals for hair/etc (not pregnant). Is this vitamin safe?
Q. I know it's important not to go crazy with the iron and some other nutrients if you aren't pregnant. This one seems reasonable to me, is there anything I should be concerned about? Supplement Facts: Serving Size 1 Tablet Vitamin A (Beta Carotene) 3750 IU 75% Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) 120 MG 200% Vitamin D2 400 IU 100% Vitamin E (D-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate) 60 IU 200% Vitamin K 20 MCG 25% Vitamin B1 (Thiamine Mononitrate) 12.5 MG 833% Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) 12.5 MG 735% Vitamin B3 (Niacinimide, Niacin) 45 MG 225% Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hcl) 12.5 MG 625% Folic Acid 800 MCG 200% Vitamin B12 100 MCG 1666% Biotin 150 MCG 50% Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) 25 MG 250% Calcium (di-Calcium Phosphate) 100 MG 10% Iron (Amino Acid Chelate)… [cont.]

A. B12 might be a problem. From wiki: The Dietary Reference Intake for an adult ranges from 2 to 3 ueg (micrograms) per day. Vitamin B-12 is believed to be safe when used orally in amounts that do not exceed the recommended dietary allowance (RDA). The RDA for vitamin B-12 in pregnant women is 2.6 ueg per day and 2.8 ueg during lactation periods. There is insufficient reliable information available about the safety of consuming greater amounts of Vitamin B-12 during pregnancy. Your prenatal vitamin has 100 micrograms of B12. You may want to do some research of your own into this, to see if this is something you want to try.

A. no. they will not. vitamin e topically helps diminish the appearance of deep scars but used on the face it can make acne worse. you need to exfoliate and see a dermatologist for either retin a (retin a micro if you have sensitive skin) or duac. i prefer duac cause it doesn't make you sun sensitive and helps lighten acne scars while gently making your skin peel them off. where as retin a or other trentonoids drastically make you peel which can cause redness and dry itchy skin.
